Some Work I’m Especially proud of

Two great public health conferences

I’ve co-chaired two Annual Conferences for the Minnesota Public Health Association and I’m proud of both of them. The first conference was in my hometown of St. Cloud and highlighted some of the public health work in the region. The second was in 2022 when the conference focused on big challenges facing our communities like climate change, war, and health disparities. It is a huge amount of work planning a conference but I love the way the event is shaped by the people on the committee and their experiences as well as the way it always brings home to me the breadth and depth of the public health community.

Branching out into UX and tech

Spring of 2022, I was encouraged by my spouse to volunteer with the U.S. Digital Response on a project for a county public health department that needed to update their sexual and reproductive health site. Sexual and reproductive health info for young people? Yes, I’ve got that! Leading folks redesigning a website? New experience for me. And, it was a great one. I not only learned what “C2A” and “artifacts” refer to but had the opportunity to grow and learn from some talented folks.
